Salthill/Knocknacarra must improve to qualify

Two county senior football quarter-finals are down for decision this Sunday in Tuam Stadium in an attractive double header.

First up at 2pm is the replay of Milltown and Mountbellew/Moylough who drew nine points apiece two weeks ago at the same venue.

Both management teams, players and supporters will be hoping for an improvement in the standard of fare on offer and higher tallies on the scoreboard by the end of this game.

The second game (3.45pm ) sees Salthill/Knocknacarra take on a decent Caherlistrane outfit who had a good victory over Moycullen in their last outing to see who will reach the last four.

Salthill are again under the guidance of Val Daly, Tommie Kelly and Seán O' Dowd, and will need to improve on recent league form if they are to beat the north board men who have genuine scoring forwards in Cormac Bane and Oisín O'Brien.

County minor Cein D'arcy is in a good vein of form too and he impressed in their last championship outing and worked really hard at Croke Park last Sunday for Stephen Joyce's minors.

If Caherlistrane can replicate their form from the second half of their game with Moycullen, I would take them to advance to the last four.
