Fallon fastest in Loughrea 5k

Many of Galway's top athletes were on show in the Loughrea AC hosted Easter Monday 5km.

Run over a fast two lap circuit around the town, the race provided Irish international Keith Fallon with a fast 15.57 run, taking victory ahead of Craughwell’s Peadar Harvey who ran 16.22. Mullingar Harriers' Andrew Nevin finished in third.

Hyland, who now runs with Dublin based club Crusaders AC, won the intermediate women's title with a fantastic front running performance .

Christmas athletics fixtures in Galway commence on Christmas Day with the annual Goal charity mile which takes place at 130 venues throughout the country.

Goal Miles take place at three venues across County Galway this year - South Park Grattan Road on Christmas Day at midday, St Jarleth's College on Christmas Day at 11am to 12.30pm, and the Dangan Running Track, NUIG Campus on Christmas Day at 10am to 1pm.
