University of Galway collects 24 tonnes of WEEE waste in a day

A very successful WEEE Recycling Event was held in University of Galway last week with 24,000kg’s of recyclable waste collected on the day. The event was attended by Deputy Mayor of Galway Cllr. Donal Lyons and there was an incredible response from the staff and students at University of Galway along with the people of Galway at large.

Galway City West and Knocknacarra Councillor Donal Lyons has been receiving ongoing representations from concerned parents/residents requesting the installation of a pedestrian crossing on the Cappagh Road close to the excellent Galway City Council recreation facilities at Cappagh Park. The facilities at Cappagh Park are widely and extensively used by the youth of the greater Knocknacarra area.
He said that the Lower Cappagh Road has seen an amount of housing development in the last couple of years. There are a number of new estates that have been developed resulting in increased traffic volumes in the vicinity of Cappagh Park.
