Concerned Connemara residents to march in call for end to hours-long wait for an ambulance

A woman lay in a pool of blood in her home in north Connemara for an hour and forty minutes waiting for an ambulance to take her to hospital. The young mother, who had a baby a few weeks earlier, was haemorrhaging heavily but had to endure the long wait because there was no ambulance available. She was eventually transferred to Mayo General Hospital. She was later told that she was within 20 minutes of losing her life.

Progress continues on N59 upgrade

Method statements for the N59 Bunakill to Maam Cross ground investigation works have been approved by the National Parks and Wildlife Service, allowing them to go to tender.

Further method statements will be necessary before the construction phase can go ahead. However the development has been welcomed by Fine Gael Galway West TD and Minister for Community Development, Natural Resources, and Digital Development, Seán Kyne.
