And they’re off the tray — Ballybrit to see Pub Pint Race for Western Alzheimers

On Sunday October 29 the Pub Pint Race will take place at Galway Racecourse in aid of Western Alzheimers.

A parade at the parade ring will take place at 12.15pm with race at 12.30pm.

So what is involved? The pub raises funds as a team for Western Alzheimers and the team then decide on a representative who will compete against several Galway pubs in the race. This involves running a short distance with a pint on a tray. The person that finishes fastest and with the most drink left in the glass, wins. The winning pub receives a specially commissioned sculpture kindly designed and donated by Liam Butler to display in their pub for the duration that they hold the Publican’s Pint Race winning title.

There are also runner-up prizes and a team prize for most money raised. Prize sponsors include The Asylum Rooms Galway, Handsome Burger, Halo nightclub, Roisin Dubh, Chili Shack, The Huntsman, and Galway Karting.

Current contenders are Barr An Chaladh, McHughs, Darcy’s Bar, Busker Brownes, Wards Salthill, Tigh Neactain, The Skeff, and Carrolls. Support them in the pub or online at idonate.ie/westernalzheimers

By supporting this event you can help Western Alzheimers continue to provide the services to carers and families of loved ones living with dementia and Alzheimers disease in long stay residential; short stay respite; day care; in-home support; support group meetings; and information and advice.
