Motivation Weight Management event to highlight importance of label reading

Thu, Nov 06, 2014

What’s in a label? The answer nutritionists and dietitians might give is your health, your waistband and the length of your life! Alarming statistics published in May 2014 indicate that a quarter of us are obese while 66% of Irish men and 51% of Irish women are above their recommended weight. Weight loss and health experts - Motivation Weight Management - believe that a contributing factor to the obesity epidemic in this country is a lack of education and confusion surrounding nutritional labels.

In order to help address the issue Motivation Weight Management in association with McCambridge breads has just announced a first series of label reading talks entitled ‘Understanding Labels for a healthier, leaner and longer life.’ The Galway talk will be given by consultant dietitian to Motivation, Aveen Bannon and will take place in the Ardilaun Hotel, Galway on Thursday 13th November at 7pm.

Ní féidir leat do dhóthain aerfoirt a bheith agat— You can never own too many airports, so says the old Irish saying uttered by Peig Sayers and she in the last throes of her life below in the Kerry peninsula. And although airports had yet to be invented, and Alcock and Brown were still in nappies, when the withered auld sage said it in between wailing and woeing about missing the boat to Amerikay, the prophesy of it all will come true next Monday in City Hall when Galway City Council will discuss such matters and hope to add another airport to their long list of assets.

It’s hard to believe that just a few years ago, the City Council and the County Council didn’t have an airport between them, not two brass airports to rub together, now it seems like airports are the new currency. I’ll see your airport and raise you two airports.
