The healthcare sector in Ireland has witnessed significant changes in the last 10 years. Increased regulation now means Carers and healthcare workers are required to obtain FETAC/QQI accredited courses in order to work in this sector.
HealthSET, is a Galway based FETAC accredited healthcare training company, specialising in a range of FETAC healthcare courses. Our FETAC courses are taught by experienced Registered Nurses which allows learners to gain access to up-to- date clinical practices. Deirdre Vaughan, a nurse by profession and the owner, says you cannot substitute practical hands on training, where carers can learn basic care skills in a supervised environment, taught by nurses.
“With the regulation of this sector, carers more and more need to be aware of changes and up-to-date clinical practices<’ she said.
The home care sector remains a growth sector, with many HealthSET graduates gaining employment in the private home care sector after they complete their courses. FETAC courses are delivered part-time and during the day.
FETAC Level 5 Care of the older person starts Nov. 18th and FETAC Level 5 Care Skills starts November 21 in Ballybane Enterprise Centre. These FETAC courses are now the minimal requirement to work in the Care Sector in Ireland.
Due to demand from January onwards HealthSET will be expanding its course range to include FETAC Level 5 Infection Control, Palliative Care, Work Experience and Care Support. Completing this courses allows learners to progress towards a Major Award in Healthcare Support.
