Rising fuel prices are crippling the Irish Seafood sector, including fishermen, aquaculture producers and fish processors. That’s according to Galway-based Enda Conneely of the Irish Islands Marine Resource Organisation (IIMRO), who says the crisis is a threat to food security.
“The entire Irish Seafood Sector is calling on the Government to act now to claim available EU funds to compensate the seafood sector and get the situation under control,” he told the Advertiser.

Dep Éamon Ó Cuív has welcomed the announcement that an international engineering firm, Atkins, has won a contract following a tender process to develop a masterplan for an offshore wind energy hub on Údaras na Gaeltachta-owned lands in Ros a’ Mhíl.
The hub, according to an Údarás-commissioned feasibility study, could support up to 900 jobs in the Connemara Gaeltacht, serving multiple floating and fixed wind farms off the west coast.

Independent TD Sean Canney has been informed by the Minister for Education that GRETB have now signed a service level agreement with the Department of Education to deliver the new amalgamated Primary School for Tuam.
The Department have devolved the project to GRETB. The next step is for the GRETB to procure a Design Team for the project to design the buildings, obtain the necessary statutory planning permissions and progress the works to tender and construction stage.
