Tragic Manuela brought into the world by sick serial killer

The man who delivered Swiss teen Manuela Riedo, who was murdered in Galway last October, was himself a serial killer accused of taking the lives of three people including his wife, his sister-in-law, and a rival co-worker.

Dr Marcel Walther was a respected gynaecologist in Switzerland when he delivered the beautiful baby girl who, almost 18 years later, would be discovered dead on wasteland at Lough Atalia on October 8, 2007, just days after her arrival in Galway city. The doctor, however, was leading a secret second life as a cold-blooded killer that would eventually win him the name of ‘Dr Death’ in the teen’s home country.

Is Brian Walsh to be Fine Gael’s solo artist in Galway City East?

It is looking increasingly likely that Cllr Brian Walsh will be the sole candidate for Fine Gael in the Galway City East ward in the 2009 Local Elections.

The party planned that Cllr Walsh will have two running mates in the ward. The plan was for Cllr Walsh to retain his seat thanks to his own base in the area and transfers from his running mates. FG also felt it could take a second seat if transfers between the three were strong enough and Fianna Fáil took a hit from an electorate still sore over Budget 09.
