Cameron calls on council to provide sites for clubs

Labour councillor Billy Cameron is calling on the Galway City Council to provide sites for two sports clubs within the city. Galway Kayak Club which previously operated out of the Fisheries Field and the Galway Racing Pigeon Club are currently looking for new sites to cater for increasing membership.

Remand for man accused of stealing woman’s handbag

A young man accused of allegedly attacking a woman and then stealing her handbag has been remanded in custody after being refused bail, and is due to appear in court again next week for the service of the book of evidence.

Jack Watchorn (18), with an address at Aras Gael, Whitestrand Avenue, Salthill, was brought before the holiday sitting of Galway District Court last Tuesday facing charges of allegedly robbing a woman of her handbag and its contents, valued at €150, at The Promenade, Salthill, on February 21, 2009.
