Available to order now from €28,990, the S-Edition comes in an ‘Aconite’ purple, and is equipped with all of the features in the top-selling Dynamique Nav version plus rear parking camera, sporty half leather seats and BOSE audio system.

New research commissioned by Seat Ireland has revealed 50 per cent of the 495 Irish respondents would choose a diesel car, compared to just 32 per cent who would prefer a petrol car. This figure showcases how diesel cars are still very much front of mind for Irish motorists.

According to the Seat research, Irish motorists would like to change their car every three years and almost one in three (28 per cent) have researched three different models prior to buying a new car. Of those surveyed, 75 per cent either fully understood or had some understanding of all car finance options available to them.

A recent survey of drivers of the UK’s most popular plug-in hybrid, the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV, reveals that around two-thirds (68 per cent) plug their car in every single day and 90 per cent charge their vehicles at least two to three times per week. This certainly runs counter to the myth that plug-in hybrids are only driven by people looking to lower their tax bills and are never actually plugged in.

The survey, undertaken by Kadence International, a global market research company, on behalf of Mitsubishi Motors in the UK, also showed that 97 per cent of Outlander PHEV owners normally charge their vehicles at home with 23 per cent using public charging points.

The move towards electric vehicles and hybrids is growing at pace, according to a new report.

EV numbers are up six times on last year and the hybrid market has advanced 20 per cent, according to the International Car Tech and Mobility Summit organisers, Electronomous and Mobility X, which reports a sharp consumer shift towards electric vehicles and a healthy growth in the numbers of hybrid vehicles.
