Fianna Fáil TD Frank Fahey has been accused of ignoring city councillors and refusing to “recognise our mandate as elected representatives” by failing to invite them to a major transport meeting and presentation in County Buildings this week.
Labour Cllr Billy Cameron has accused Dep Fahey, the Galway West TD and Oireachtas Joint Committee on Transport chairman, of refusing to allow him and other city councillors to attend the meeting, which took place on Tuesday.

The owners of The Tuam Herald newspaper have said that they are not committed to selling the newspaper — one of the oldest in the country and that they only appointed venture capitalists Raglan Capital to ‘explore the matter.’
Weekend newspaper reports stated that the newspaper was set to become the third family-owned newspaper in the west to be sold so far this year, with a ‘pricetag’ of €10 million placed on the paper which was established in 1837.

Ireland should take the lead from the American state of Virginia in the cutting of red-tape surrounding business set-up.
That’s according to Dara Calleary TD, member of the Joint Oireachtas Enterprise Committee. He raised the issue with the Governor of Virginia, Tim Kane, when he came before the Committee to discuss economic links between Virginia and Ireland and how they can be enhanced.
