Footfall expands operations in Oranmore

Almost all Connacht companies see the benefit of standards

The recent horsemeat issue highlights how easily business reputations and consumer confidence can be damaged or lost, and further reinforces the high value for companies of having standards in place for products and services.

Almost four out of five (78 per cent) Connacht companies surveyed recently believe that implementing standards directly benefits their business. Additionally, almost 3 out of 4 (72 per cent) Managing Directors and CEOs in Connacht believe companies that use standards have stronger reputations. The research was conducted for NSAI (National Standards Authority of Ireland) by Behaviour and Attitudes.

Dermot Hyland is currently employed at the Kinlay Hostel in Eyre Square, Galway. Dermot has availed of the Supported Employment Programme through EmployAbility Galway. Dermot was referred to EmployAbility Galway service in February 2011. Dermot, originally from Renvyle Co Galway, moved to Galway city in 198. Dermot has a mild learning disability and left secondary school after his third year to attend work preparation training. As part of his training he completed a work experience in the Value Centre, Newcastle in 1993, which resulted in paid employment. Dermot loved his job there and worked as a general operative until March 2009 when the facility in Newcastle closed and he was made redundant.

Winters Property Management first in Galway to receive PSRA licence

Winters Property Management has become the first managing agency in Galway to be licensed by the Property Services Regulatory Authority (PSRA). As part of their ongoing commitment to better property management Winters held an information evening last night (Wednesday) for owner management company directors to give an overview of the PSRA requirements and responsibilities which are now paramount for all Property Management Providers.

The PSRA was established by the Government in 2011 to licence and regulate the property services industry. Winters Property Management worked closely with the Property Regulator and was at the forefront of all discussions. Since July 2012, property service providers may no longer operate unless licensed by the PSRA. The legislation covers property management, sales, auctioneering and letting services.
