Galway Races style guide

From the g Hotel & Spa, official sponsor of the #gHotelBestDressed

With 55 days to go to one of the most top style events in the country, we are introducing a new column in association with the g Hotel & Spa to get you races ready. Each week we will take you through different looks, impart helpful tips and guidelines ensuring both ladies and gents are ready for the 2017 Galway Races and the g Hotel & Spa Best Dressed events.

To start, we take a quick look back at last year’s winners of the hotly contested event. Tullamore native Lisa McGowan won the title of the g Hotel & Spa Best Dressed Lady wearing a dress she designed herself with Strawberry and Lime, and the g Hotel & Spa Best Hat crown was taken by Ciara Murphy, a garda from Dunboyne, Co Meath. Ciara’s bronze feathered hat was created by Fiona Rafter Millinery and was a firm favourite on the day. Both ladies featured in the national media and their style and elegance showing through at all times.

Overall, it was clear that the best dressed partnership with the designer g Hotel & Spa certainly upped the style stakes on Ladies Day. The fashion was impressive from the outset with impeccably dressed ladies at the racecourse as early as 11am. The judges are tasked each year with selecting just 10 finalists for both categories and everything counts from your shoes to your nails. Every outfit has a story and every elegantly dressed lady is looking to stand out from the crowd on Ladies Day, be it with colour or quirky flourishes. This column will cover all aspects of getting race ready and helping you to achieve a winning look. Join us each week for the ultimate style guide to the Galway Races.
