Gardai probe church damage

Gardai in Athenry are investigating an incident in which damage was caused to a local church.

Between 1pm and 9pm on the 15th of February a window was smashed in the Sacristy of St. Mary’s Church in Athenry.

Any witnesses to this incident are asked to contact Athenry Garda Station on 091 844016.

Hoade welcomes road grants

Cllr Mary has welcomed the allocation of funding in this year’s road funding programme for a number of roads in the area following herrepresentation. Restoration, improvement, and surface dressing works at Cluidrevagh, €25,000, Glenrevagh €25,600, Ballrobuckbeg, €24,000, Kilcahill, €36,000. The works will commence in the next few weeks.

A further €2,000,000 has been allocated for the Luimnagh Realignment scheme, and €250,000 towards road upgarade works in Headford town. Work on this plan is currently in preparation and an information evening will be held regarding same when it is ready.

Table quiz

A fundraising table quiz for Cumann Siúl Cois Coiribe – Corribside Hillwalking Club will take place at The Menlo Park Hotel, Galway on Wednesday March 1 at 8pm.

Tables of four are €40. There will be lots of spot prizes available on the night. Go along and bring a friend. All are welcome.

Colour run/walk in Athenry

Clarin College, Athenry, will hold a colour run/walk on Sunday March 12 in aid of Pieta House and the Health Promoting School fund.

The fun begins at 1pm, with registration at Clarin College from 12 noon on the day. Participants to undertake a 3k or a 5k route. Entry is €10 (under-12s are free ) and all are welcome to attend.
