Children and youth groups urged to apply for funding

Children’s groups and youth organisations are being encouraged to apply to the Department of Children and Youth Affairs for a National Lottery Discretionary fund.

The Department has €910,000 available for disbursement in 2014. The fund provides one-off grants to community groups and voluntary organisations which provide services to children and young people.

Fine Gael senator Hildegarde Naughton is encouraging Galway groups to apply.

“The focus of the funding in 2014 will be on healthy lifestyles for children and young people including new and innovative projects aimed at recent issues for children such as cyber bullying,” she said. “I would urge community groups in Galway to consider applying for funding quickly.”

The closing date for completed applications is 12.30pm on Friday June 6. The application form and information note are available on www.dcya.gov.ie or from National Lottery Grants, Freepost, Department of Children and Youth Affairs, 43-49 Mespil Road, Dublin 4.
