Galway arts/culture groups urged to apply for new funding scheme

New €500,000 scheme aimed at providing small capital grants to not-for-profit arts organisation

Arts and cultural organisations across Galway city and county are being urged to apply for funding under a new small capital grants scheme which has been launched by the Department of Arts, Heritage, Regional, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs.

The €500,000 scheme is aimed at providing small capital grants to not-for-profit arts organisations. Individual grants of up to €20,000 are available to assist with capital investment projects such as energy efficiency projects, lighting and sound equipment, heating and plumbing upgrades, seating, staging and storage, the installation of security or IT systems, as well as minor building works such as window replacement.

The Minister for Gaeltacht Affairs and Natural Resources, and Fine Gael Galway West TD Seán Kyne, has welcomed the grants and is encouraging arts groups to apply. “The grant amount will cover up to 70 per cent of the cost of works and will provide a modest boost to the local economy," he said.

The application form and guidelines on Stream 3 of the Arts and Culture Capital Scheme 2016-2018 is available via http://www.ahg.gov.ie/arts/creative-arts/grants-and-funding/
