THE TRIBAL Chamber Choir, directed by Mark Keane, will launch their debut album Carols From Galway with a concert in St Nicholas’ Collegiate Church next week.
The album features Delia Boyce performing ‘Silent Night’, Frank Naughton singing ‘O Holy Night’, Fine Gael councillor Hildegarde Naughton giving a jazzy rendition of ‘Santa Baby’, and Aoife Ní Chulain performing a rendition of ‘Dun Oiche Ud I mBeithil’.
The St Patrick’s Brass Band, directed by Michael Dooley, provide a subtle jazz accompaniment to Nicola McGuire and Keith McDonald’s duet ‘Baby, It’s Cold Outside’.
Irving Berlin’s ‘White Christmas’ is sung by Rosemarie Hosty while Kenneth Kennedy sings the ever popular ‘Chestnuts Roasting On An Open Fire’.
The album was recorded in Salthill church where the natural acoustic enhances the choir’s clear and blended sound. Herbeck’s ‘Pueri Concinite’, with soprano Christine Canavan, lends itself to this bel canto style singing.
The concert takes place on Monday November 29 at 8pm when the choir will perform selections from the album. All are welcome to attend.
