This Sunday June 2, Galway city will celebrate the Feast of Corpus Christi with a Eucharistic Procession, inviting all residents and visitors to participate in this sacred tradition.
The event will commence with 3.00pm Mass at the Abbey Church on St Francis Street, celebrated by Bishop Michael Duignan. After Mass, participants will walk in procession, reciting the rosary and singing hymns. The event will conclude with Benediction at the Poor Clare Monastery on Nuns’ Island.
Fr John Gerard Acton of Galway Cathedral reflects on the broader significance of the event, saying, “In times of global turmoil and personal struggles, this procession serves as a testament to our faith. It’s an opportunity for us as a community to come together, offering prayers for those who are suffering and finding strength in our hope for a better future. This procession allows us to visibly demonstrate our unity and solidarity.
