THE STUNNING, one of Galway's most legendary bands, will play the Heineken Big Top on Sunday July 19 as part of the 2020 Galway International Arts Festival.
Next year marks the 30th anniversary of the release of their magnificent debut album, Paradise In The Picture House, which topped the charts for five weeks in 1990. As The Irish Times put it, “The Stunning were the biggest band in the country; tracks such as ‘Brewing up a Storm’, ‘Heads are Gonna Roll’ and ‘Half Past Two’ are still alternative anthems.”
More recently, their 2017 single ‘Brighten Up My Life’ was one of the most played Irish songs on the radio that summer. They followed this with the release of 'Twice Around The World'. The first album by the band since 1994, it went straight to Number 1 upon its release in March 2018. Festival favourites around the country, The Stunning closed out shows at both Féile 2018 and 2019 in Semple Stadium in Thurles.
The special guests will be Something Happens. This is a 'Galway International Arts Festival and Róisín Dubh presents...' show. Tickets are €35 and will be available from www.giaf.ie from Friday December 6 at 9am.
