THEY CREATED the musical genre rockgrass - a fusion of classic rock and bluegrass/American folk - have won the respect of legendary rockers, been going for nearly 20 years, and they are coming to Galway this week.
Hayseed Dixie, led by Barley Scotch (aka John Wheeler ), play the Róísín Dubh on Friday March 1 at 8pm, where they can be expected to play songs by AC/DC, Queen, KISS, and many others, in their fast and furious bluegrass style.
As Uncut said: “Hayseed Dixie highlights the worth of mountain music to all things rock: energy, dirt-punk rhythm, careening harmonies and the fundamental right of all no-good f**k-ups to raise hell come Saturday night"; The Times called them “superlative musicians with a deep love and understanding of the dynamics of both modern rock and ancient hillbilly music". Former AC/DC bassist Cliff Williams is an ardent admirer of the group, while Queen's Brian May said of them, "it's not good...it’s fabulous!”
Tickets are available at www.roisindubh.net, the Ticket Desk at OMG Zhivago, Shop Street, and The Róisín Dubh.
