Montauk Hotel to play Strange Brew

Quartet's take on indie jangle-pop is winning acclaim across Irelamd

INSPIRED BY 1980s indie-pop, and creating "streamlined, chorus-drenched jangle-pop” with "earworming charm", according to The Thin Air, Montauk Hotel are fast becoming a rising force in Irish music.

The Dublin band - Claudia Verdecchia (vocals ), Shell Dooley (guitars ), Aoife Hester (bass ), and Karima Dillon-El Toukhy (drums ) - fuse strong melodies, chiming guitars, and punchy beats. It is a style that has led them to perform headline shows across Ireland; appear at Electric Picnic, Other Voices, and the Groove, Vantastival, and Sunflower festivals; and play support to Goat Girl, PINS, and Beauty Sleep.

The band released their self-titled debut EP in March 2017, and followed this with the singles 'Sense of Place' (August 2017 ), 'Hands' (March 2018 ), and 'Stains' (October 2018 ). Hot Press has called their music "a gorgeous jangly pop noise”.

Montauk Hotel play Strange Brew at the Róisín Dubh on Thursday February 28 at 9pm. Admission is free.
