The online videos are being produced by Flight Centre, Australasia’s largest retail travel agency group.

€750,000 worth of community schemes for Cill Chomáin

Funding for a number of new community improvement schemes for the Cill Chomain area was announced this week by Minister for Community, Rural, and Gaeltacht Affairs, Éamon Ó Cuív, and the Minister for Communications, Energy, and Natural Resources, Eamon Ryan. It is estimated that these projects will cost up to €750,000, which will be provided by several state bodies, including the Department of Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs, Fáilte Ireland and Mayo County Council.

Child benefit must not be taxed or means tested — Beverley

A Government TD has warned that child benefit is not a luxury, and any move to tax or means test it would be completely unacceptable in the upcoming Budget.

“Mothers need child benefit now more than ever,” Deputy Beverley Flynn said. “Child benefit is a critical part of family income at this time. It is the only payment which goes automatically to the mother of the family. It should not and cannot be interfered with in any way.”

Major investment for Rossport College

A €339,000 extension to Coláiste Chomain, Rossport, has been announced today by Beverley Flynn TD. Deputy Flynn has received confirmation from the Minister for Education and Science, Batt O'Keeffe, that the Rossport College has been approved for the grant with immediate effect.

Flynn welcomes funding for farm retirement scheme

The funds will help to meet those applications which were completed or close to completion at the time entry to the scheme was suspended in October, 2008.

Car sales drop in Mayo in September

The Society of Irish Motor Industry’s latest figures shows the continued decline of new vehicle sales in Mayo in September compared to the same time 12 months ago. In September this year there were only two heavy good vehicles sold in Mayo, compared to seven in 2008, a 70 per cent reduction, which is six per cent above the national average decline.
