Paws for Thought

In association with Mayo SPCA

Mayo SPCA is appealing this week for caring homes for dogs, cats, and kittens.

Jodi is an eight month old collie found very frightened in a ditch at Islandeady. If you recognise her then Mayo SPCA would be very pleased to hear from you. She has a lovely nature, has now got over her fear, is a happy, intelligent, young dog who walks well on a lead, gets along with other dogs and all people. She has had her first vaccination, been flea/worm treated, vet checked, and is healthy apart from being thin and well below the weight she should be for her size and age. She will be spayed before being rehomed but will need to gain weight first. Jodi will be so easy to train as she is quick to learn, eager to please, and very responsive to commands. Given a little time she will be a really fantastic dog.

Jock is a neutered mixed breed dog, approximately one year old, only medium sized, he has had his first vaccination, been flea/worm treated and vet checked. He has a lovely friendly nature, is good with female dogs, loves people, and is totally insecure. He just needs to be with someone all the time, he is not afraid, has no aggression, and is struggling to cope with everything happening around him after being locked in a shed in appalling conditions for most of his young life. Everything is so new to him and his insecurity makes him want to cling to someone all the time. He is going to settle given time and confidence by a caring person who understands why he needs to be close to someone, if not he will bark and cry. If you feel you could give him what he needs let Mayo SPCA know. He walks very well on a lead and is house trained — surprisingly. So that is a good start.

Mayo SPCA is still looking for homes for cats and kittens of all ages, colours, and sizes. There seems to be no end to the number of kittens unwanted and cats with kittens abandoned. If you need assistance with neutering/spaying your cat or dog or can offer a home to any of these rescues then contact Mayo SPCA on 094 963 1888/086 803 2592. Mayo SPCA thanks you for your ongoing support.
