Unlike estate agents that charge the seller of the property a percentage of the final sales price, Auctioneera charges a fixed fee of €1,695 for a full, no compromise, best-in-class estate agency service. The savings on offer are substantial. For example, a property that sells for €350,000 at 1.5 per cent plus VAT would mean a bill for the vendor of €6,457, with many estate agents charging a marketing fee to boot.
Glenn Henley spearheaded Auctioneera’s assault on the capital over the past two years and leaves behind a thriving operation there as the fixed-fee model continues to gain share in Dublin. In that time the company has handled sales with a total value of almost €200m, saving its vendors an estimated €3m in estate agency charges compared to percentage-based auctioneers. A growing percentage of the company’s sales is now coming from its thriving Cork office with Fiona Waldron driving the business forward for Auctioneera on Leeside.
