Cllr Mc Nelis said the Government’s own figures show that there is a shortage of over 50,000 construction workers in Ireland and that this is having a devastating impact on the building of new homes, with many projects delayed or cancelled.

Galway has become the first city in Ireland to complete the rollout of LED lighting, leading to an annual saving of approximately €600,000, Senator Pauline O’Reilly said this week.
The Green Party Senator commended Galway City Council this week for its work in switching to the energy efficient bulbs, which have yielded a 64 per cent reduction in energy use from lighting for the local authority while also helping to reduce carbon emissions.
