Supermac’s has announced that it will be providing a limited service a number of outlets around Galway following consultation with authorities.

The restaurants, which resumed operations yesterday, will see Headford Road and Tuam Road outlets operate a Drive Thru collection system for customers with the Newcastle providing a delivery service.

The adult cystic fibrosis team at University Hospital Galway is using online video conferencing to replace face-to-face outpatient appointments during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Dr Michael O’Mahony, the adult cystic fibrosis physician, said the hospital obtained Sláintecare integration funding at the start of the year for a telemedicine project. This involved delivering a physiotherapy service via online video link to patients to increase the hospital’s level of physiotherapy input into their care between their scheduled outpatient appointments.

Researchers in the Health Behaviour Change Research Group at the School of Psychology in NUI Galway are collaborating with a team of over 100 behavioural scientists from more than 20 countries around the world on the International Covid-19 Awareness and Responses Evaluation (I-CARE) Study. The international survey assesses people’s awareness, attitudes, beliefs, and behaviours in response to the various measures put in place to prevent and reduce the spread of COVID-19 across the world.

Galway business provides more than 4,000 meals to frontline workers

A Galway business has provided some 4,200 free lunches to nurses and frontline staff working at University Hospital Galway since March 15.

Mr Waffle located opposite the hospital has been able to prepare and deliver the lunches thanks to crowdfunding initiatives through GoFundMe and Feed The Heroes as well as its staff’s volunteer efforts.
