New online service to simplify transfer of vehicle ownership

A new online change of vehicle ownership service has been launched, which will allow private (non-trade) vehicle owners to transfer vehicle registration to another private owner, entirely online.

The new Government service will allow buyers to check vehicle details against the vehicle register. These include make/model, colour, motor tax status, test status, number of previous owners, and whether or not the vehicle was imported.

New car registrations for month of October were up 9.7% (2,423) when compared to October 2023 (2,208). Registrations year to date are down 1.2% (119,668) on the same period last year (121,134).
