Galway bands sought for IMRO Showcase Tour

GALWAY BANDS are being sought for the 11 date IMRO Showcase Tour which takes place in September 2011. All genres are welcome, from rock to folk, pop to hip-hop, and beyond.

The tour will play Belfast, Derry, Dublin, Cork, Mayo, Galway, Kildare, and Limerick, with the annual ‘End of Tour Showcase’ in The Workman’s Club in mid October. A number of shows will be all ages gigs.

FANS OF jazz, blues, and lounge music have plenty to look forward to this weekend when two of the finest practitioners of such genres play Monroe’s Live.

Tomorrow at 9.30pm, Mary Coughlan will take to the stage. From her 1985 debut Tired and Emotional, to the recent The House of Ill Repute, described by Q as “a serious return to form”, Mary has delivered many memorable musical moments and is rightly regarded as the queen of Irish jazz and blues. After Mary’s gig, roots-rock/psychedelic band The Deans will take to the stage at midnight.
