Aldi Ireland has said that it will open a new €9 million store on Old Monivea Road, Ballybrit in Galway in Autumn 2023.
The news for Galway shoppers comes as Aldi was granted planning permission from Galway City Council. 30 new permanent, well-paid jobs will be created when the store opens, while up to 50 jobs will be supported during the construction of the environmentally-friendly store.

CWS International GmbH, the German-based services group has acquired Galway-based Specialised Sterile Environments Ltd. (SSE), an Irish company specialised in cleanroom cleaning, decontamination and hygiene services to the Irish Pharma and Medtech industry.
This further expands CWS’s international portfolio in cleaning and decontamination services in the highly specialised cleanroom segment and contributes to the company’s sustainable growth strategy. SSE Cleaning has been sold by its former owner and founder Mary Connell. The deal was closed on August 31 2021 for an undisclosed sum.

Grant, Ireland’s leading home heating appliance manufacturer, has invested over €250,000 in pioneering a major R&D breakthrough that could help reduce carbon emissions in rural and hard to heat homes. The breakthrough will also help prevent Irish homeowners from incurring the high cost and subsequent disruption to daily life of deep retrofitting.
Over the past six years the Grant R&D team has worked with third level institutions, industry partners and renewable fuel producers, focusing on more sustainable and carbon saving fuels and innovating its boilers to be biofuel compatible.

Almost 80% of farmers surveyed by Ifac for its 2021 Irish Farm Report now use technology in their business every day. While this brings advantages in terms of streamlining processes, saving time and boosting productivity, it also introduces digital and cyber risks that farmers need to understand and manage, with financial losses and the leaking of confidential data being two of the major worries.
“As more farms rely on email, online banking, apps, e-commerce and automated farming equipment, it is vital to manage the risks associated with these technologies”, says Philip O’Connor, Head of Farm Support at ifac.
