Galway Actors Workshop will hold a series of new classes for beginners and experienced performers, covering all aspects of acting — both as an art form and where it connects with wellbeing and creative mindset
Acting 101 is a course for beginners, covering all the necessary basics. There will be two six week courses on Mondays, starting April 23 (taught by John Rogers ) and June 4 (taught by Sarah O’Toole ).
The Next Stage classes for improvers will run for 12 sessions over 10 weeks and have been split into one on voice, text, and scene study with Sarah O'Toole, starting Thursday April 24; and another on improvisation and comedy with a series of guest tutors starting Wednesday April 25. Each will end in a public showcase performance.
The two new Acting in the Real World courses take the emphasis off acting for art’s sake, and connect it with practices for physical wellbeing and enhanced creativity in real life. Yoga for actors with Aoife Heery looks at the craft of acting at its many different levels from a yogic perspective, and starts on Thursday April 26. The creative mindset with Sarah O’Toole, starting Tuesday April 24, will use various art forms as a starting point to begin to think more creatively about different aspect of our lives and develop practices and strategies to push past where we feel stuck. Both courses run for eight weeks.
All courses take place in the Anno Santo Hotel, Salthill, from 7pm to 10pm. For more information and pricing, visit www.galwayactorsworkshop.com, call Sarah on 087 237 3531, or email [email protected].
