The Bridge That Gap and Oranmore-Clarinbridge Tourism Network is inviting tourism providers throughout Galway city and county and further afield along the Wild Atlantic Way to attend the ‘Rising Tide Tourism and Hospitality Event’ on Thursday next April 19 at Galway Bay Golf Resort in Oranmore, Co. Galway.
The half day event running from 9.30am to 2.00pm will provide a platform for collaboration and networking as well as presentations from industry experts – Pól Ó Conghaíle, Travel Editor, Sunday Independent; Donal Healy of Ireland West Airport, Jill Holtz, MyKidsTime.com and Fáilte Ireland’s Wild Atlantic Way team: Miriam Kennedy and Eva Costello; as well as Galway County Council and Galway 2020. Special guest speaker, award-winning travel journalist Pól Ó Conghaíle, will draw on his vast experience in the industry as a much-respected contributor to travel programmes on TV, radio and online.
“The aim of our event is to bring the communities along the Wild Atlantic Way together, to re-establish Oranmore-Clarinbridge on the tourism map and give a great welcome,” said Cllr Martina Kinane, Chairperson, Bridge That Gap.
“We hope to develop valuable relationships to enhance our tourism strategy by engaging with other successful communities. The spirit of collaboration is alive and well on the West Coast, she said adding that they would like to welcome hotels, B&Bs, tour guides, restaurateurs, transport operators as well as people involved in community organisations that support tourism in rural areas like arts, music, tidy towns, conservation and heritage groups.’
“We are delighted to be the host venue for ‘The Rising Tide Tourism and Hospitality Event’ – here in Oranmore and Clarinbridge we have so much to offer from golfing, sailing, the outdoors, as well as quality accommodation and over thirty places where you can eat or drink. Presentations will be given by Jill Holtz, Director of award-winning MyKidsTime.com and social media specialist; Donal Healy from Ireland West Airport will speak on ‘Driving tourism and economic development in the West of Ireland’; Miriam Kennedy – Head of Wild Atlantic Way Region will talk about the strategy and future plans for The Wild Atlantic way as well as its success to date; Eva Costello- Team manager, Wild Atlantic Way for Sligo and Mayo will give insights into ‘Destination Westport’ and their success in working together and the increase in business it has brought them. Other presentations include Galway County Council and Galway 2020.
Registration online includes presentations, panel discussions, Q&A, light lunch and networking coffee breaks. It is a morning event from 10am to 2pm followed by a visit to Oranmore Castle.
This is an initiative of local social enterprise ‘Bridge That Gap’ supporting Jobs and Tourism projects in the Oranmore Municipal area supported by Galway County Council.
