4.48 PSYCHOSIS, Sarah Kane's fearless, unorthodox, portrait of an experience of clinical depression, will be staged in the 126 Gallery, by new Galway theatre company, WestWorks.
4.48 Psychosis, Kane's final play before she tragically took her own life in 1999, is poetic, darkly humourous, and tackles mental health and its institutional treatment. The show is a first-time collaboration between a local theatre company and the 126 Gallery at 15 St Bridget’s Place, with the play having been adapted specifically for the gallery space. The production stars Aoife Considine and Anna Doyle. The director is Kieron Smith. Composer David McEntee has created a soundscape and original composition specifically for the piece.
WestWorks was founded by Féilim O'hAoláin, Marciana Negrea, Kieron Smith, and Conor Geoghegan, with a view to collectively engage with social issues through creative and collaborative art projects.
4.48 Psychosis runs from Monday April 16 to Saturday 21 at 8pm with a 3pm matinee on Saturday. Tickets are €9/7 on the door and via the Town Hall Theatre (091 - 569777, www.tht.ie ).
