An X-ray and ultrasound service will be available at Tuam Primary Care Centre by the second half of this year.
Some €700,000 was allocated by the Department of Health for the service and the appointment of a radiographer, radiographer's assistant, and a clerical officer.
Cllr Mary Hoade raised the issue at a recent meeting of the HSE West's regional health forum. In reply, Tony Canavan, the chief officer for community services, stated the procurement of equipment and the recruitment of staff was in progress and the authority expected to have the service up and running in the second half of 2018.
