DAUGHTER OF The Dagda, a multimedia exhibition exploring the female and the feminine in Irish mythology and iconography, is currently running in the foyer of the Arts Millenium Building at NUI Galway.
This multimedia exhibition features work by Fiona Cawley, Patsy Connolly, Eleanor Duggan, Kaye Maahs, Hilary Morley, Regina O’Dea, Noreen O’Sullivan, Patricia Timmons and Rachel Varden The title, Daughter Of The Dagda, refers to Brigit, the Triple Goddess of healing, poetry, and smithwork. She was transformed into a saint with the arrival of Christianity and was said to have exercised some power in the early Christian church, setting up her own monastery and reputedly being ordained a bishop.
There will be an artist talk's on Wednesday April 11 and on Wednesday 18, from 1pm to 2pm in the foyer of the Arts Millennium Building, NUI Galway. All are welcome to attend. The exhibition runs daily until the end of April.
