BALLET, JAZZ, classical, and film scores will come together in what is certain to be a splendid night of music and dance in Salthill, featuring the combined talents of Maoin Cheoil na Gaillimhe and the Regina Rogers School of Ballet.
Maoin Cheoil na Gaillimhe presents the Galway Youth and Clare orchestras, under director Hugh Kelly, with the Regina Rogers School of Ballet, in Leisureland on Sunday April 8 at 7pm. The programme will feature the gypsy dance from Bizet's Carmen, Strauss's 'Blue Danube', Grieg's 'Hall of the Mountain King', Mancini's 'Pink Panther', works by Saint-Saens and Strauss, along with extracts from Tchaikovsky's The Nutcracker, including the 'Waltz Of The Flowers', which will be the show's finale.

"It will be a challenging but excellent experience for our dancers to perform with both orchestras," says Regina Rogers. "It also provides a platform for both musicians and dancers to meet and share their artform. It is rare we get the opportunity to dance with an orchestra. 'The Dying Swan' will be danced by visiting past student Emer Lenihan who is now in Brussels in full time professional training."

Hugh Kelly said Maoin Cheoil na Gaillimhe is "terribly excited to be a part of the project". He added: Working with the Ballet this year is the culmination of a long standing desire to continue engaging with music making outside of our own small world. Sharing of the talent and energy that these wonderful young people bring to their work is what makes it all such a joy."
