Oughterard's Currarevagh House has won an award for its Irish breakfast.
Food writer Georgina Campbell described Currarevagh House as "special", and a "real country house, doing things in season" after winning the Welcome Standard Category at the Irish Breakfast Awards 2018
The second annual Georgina Campbell Irish Breakfast Awards, in association with Fáilte Ireland, are a showcase of the Irish breakfast at its best, and the role it plays in creating some of Ireland’s most memorable food and hospitality experiences.
Speaking about Currarevagh House, Georgina Campbell said: "They don’t have a breakfast menu, but there’s always something interesting on offer - homemade kombucha, sourdough breads and natural yogurt are current favourites in the Currarevagh kitchen and there’s kedgeree most mornings too."

Currarevagh House is a Victorian country manor situated on the shores of Lough Corrib in 150 acres of private woodland.

Galway city's NOX Hotel received a highly commended at the awards.
At the awards Georgina also paid tribute to the Galway - West of Ireland European Region of Gastronomy 2018 designation, saying: “This recognition is very well deserved, and, as shown by our awards, standards of food and hospitality are exceptionally high in this stunningly beautiful region.”
