With trade between Ireland and China approaching €10 billion per year, this is an exceptionally good time to investigate the opportunities that exist for Irish companies to do business in the emerging Chinese markets.
Equipping yourself with the basics of the Chinese language and an understanding of the specific cultural nuances of the country are important steps in the preparatory process, and the Galway Education Centre in conjunction with PorterShed and Confucious Institute for Ireland is offering a 10 week beginner course for business in the Chinese language this year
The classes take place on Tuesdays from 12.30pm to 1.30pm from April 10 to June 12 and will run for 10 weeks.
Classes are available both for beginners and improvers, with participants taught the rudiments of Chinese etiquette as well as fundamental language skills. The courses are practical in nature with students participating in an active way – enjoying a Chinese tea ceremony, learning to make Chinese dumplings, and how to eat with chopsticks.
Students also learn about the various Chinese festivals throughout the year and are given lots of practical advice and tips on preparing for their visit to China.
Fees are €100 standard rate.
