The All Ireland club camogie finals involving Sarfields and Athenry will now miss out on playing in Croke Park with the games re-scheduled for this Saturday in St Tiernach’s Park, Clones, in Monaghan.
Twice called off due to recent severe weather, the finals have been re-scheduled for this Saturday in St Tiernach’s Park, Clones, in Monaghan due to the unavailability of headquarters.
Katherine Duane's Athenry squad will take on Johnstownbridge (Kildare ) at 1.30pm in the intermediate final and they are fancied to win that joust. Then Michael McGrath’s Sarsfields outfit will take on last year’s champions Slaughtneil (Derry ) at 3.30pm in the senior decider.
Sarsfields will be looking for big displays from team captain Orla McGrath, her sisters Siobhán, Niamh and centre-back Clodagh, along with Mairead Cooney, Laura Ward, Tara Kenny, Sarah Spellman and underage star Rachel Murray, who hit the winner in their semi-final victory.
Slaughtneil will be hard to beat, but after losing last year’s final, Sarsfields are determined to go one better this weekend.
