New Mini convertible is open for business

Mini says it has taken its modern classic convertible and given it lots of little tweaks and refinements that add up to something extra special.

Its characteristic headlights have been updated, while its new LED headlights come with optional Matrix technology for bright high beam driving. The Mini gets even smarter with the inclusion of a rear-view mirror camera, which controls the headlights automatically when it detects oncoming traffic.

Along with these smart new additions, Mini has quietly updated the basics, which it says, will supercharge the driving excitement. These changes include a multifunction steering wheel, and some of the convertible’s best technology, such as head-up display.

It adds that Mini Connected brings innovations to everyday drives.

“Enjoy pioneering technology from inside or outside the Mini. From real time traffic information and personal ‘concierge service’ to advanced remote control functionality that helps locate your Mini using a smartphone. Oh, and did we mention this Mini has Apple CarPlay, which lets you display your iPhone’s interface when you play music and take calls,” Mini boasts.

And the company says the latest convertible stands out in all the right ways. For one thing, the electrically-powered soft top folds up quietly and smoothly in 18 seconds flat, even while Mini is on the move up to 18mph. As well as folding up or down, it also boasts a sunroof mode to let the breeze in.

To mark 25 years since the Mini convertible was first launched, the company has created an exclusive run of 300 limited edition, automatic Cooper S models. These feature all the refinements of the updated 2018 Mini convertible, plus a "unique combination of starlight blue’ paint and satellite grey leather interior not found on any other Mini".
