Training and support from National Learning Network

Do you need extra support to get a qualification and get and keep a job? If you have an illness, a mental health issue such as anxiety, or a disability, National Learning Network (NLN ) could be the answer.

NLN offers more than 70 different training programmes, from art to business skills, in centres across Ireland. So, whatever your interests, NLN has a tailored, supported, training programme for you.

“At NLN 90 per cent of people who complete our programmes progress to work or further education," said NLN head of learning, Cormac Woods. "We support students on every step of their journey.

“Our courses are designed around the needs of each student, enabling them to achieve their goals at their own pace. A comprehensive range of additional supports such as career planning, personal and social skills, assistive technology, literacy and numeracy classes are also available.”

In Galway NLN offers courses such as Transitions, Tús Nua (Fresh Start ), horticulture, employer based training, and IT and business studies. It also offers a service called Quest which supports people with acquired brain injuries.

NLN is different. Its unique system of training enables students to reach their potential in a manner that takes account of personal, social, and environmental requirements through a mix of classroom and on-the-job training.

NLN provides mental health services, and all managers, instructors, rehabilitation officers, resource teachers, social skills facilitators, psychologists, and advocacy officers have had extensive training in this field.
