Another option is an apprenticeship, which has traditionally been the path to skilled occupations in sectors such as construction, engineering, motor, electrical, and plumbing. However, a recently expanded model of apprenticeship has been introduced, in which a wider range of occupations are attracting more people towards this career path.

The range of apprenticeship options in Ireland has now extended into areas such as insurance practice, electrical engineering, manufacturing and network engineer, international financial services, hospitality, accounting, and commis chef, with more in development. Apprenticeship offers the opportunity to ‘earn while you learn’ as participants are paid throughout their apprenticeship. To apply for an apprenticeship course visit www.apprenticeship.ie
