Music and poetry for next Druid Sessions gig

Ye Vagabonds, Máirtín O'Connor, and Elaine Feeney

FOLK DUO Ye Vagabonds, accordionist Máirtín O'Connor, and poet Elaine Feeney will take to the stage of The Mick Lally Theatre for the next Druid Sessions gig, curated by Ollie Jennings.

Ye Vagabonds - Carlow brothers Brían and Diarmuid Mac Gloinn - mix Irish traditional music, Appalachian singing, and 1960s folk revival style within their harmony rich songs. They released their debut EP Rose & Briar in 2015, while their eponymous debut album was released last year on their own label, Inglenook Records. They have supported Lisa Hannigan, Roy Harper, and Glen Hansard.

Elaine Feeney is the author of the poetry collections Rise (2017 ), The Radio Was Gospel (2014 ), and Where’s Katie? (2010 ), published by Salmon. In 2016, Liz Roche Company commissioned Feeney to write for a national production, a record through dance, film and narrative, the experience of being a woman, and bodily choice in Ireland.

Máirtín O'Connor is one of the most outstanding and creative forces in Irish trad. He came to wide attention via the band Midnight Well and his acclaimed 1978 solo album, The Connachtman’s Rambles (1978 ). Since then he has performed both solo and with The Boys of the Lough, Reel Union, De Dannan, Skylark. For the last decade has has worked with Cathal Hayden, Seamie O'Dowd, and Jimmy Higgins, recording two albums - Crossroads and Going Places. For this show, Máirtín will be joined by Daughters Ltd.
