Bish footballers impress in Connacht final

St Joseph's (The Bish ) won the Connacht Junior A Football Championship with a superb display on Tuesday in Headford GAA grounds, beating St Gerald's, Castlebar, on an impressive scoreline of 3-15 to 0-6.

The city-based school, under the guidance of St Michael's club man Alan Glynn, were far too strong for the Mayo lads, and boasted a really strong defence with players such Ian Casserly, Rory Melody, Aaron Flynn and Ethan Fiorentini in fine form.

At midfield David Hurley and D'Angelo Massah were in complete control and that duo supplied great ball to Colin Kelly, who kicked 0-08 in a polished display. Daniel O’Flaherty scored two goals and team captain Daniel Cox also popped over four lovely points in an accomplished display.

Other players who caught the eye were Rory McDonnell, Dylan Cummins, Dara O'Malley, Evan Nolan, Cillian Callaghan and goalkeeper James Egan. The Bish squad now contests the All-Ireland semi-final on Saturday March 10.
