Road lining to mark out the junctions where to stop are to be placed at each end of the Mervue Shopping Centre.
This work is to be carried out by the Galway City Council as currently there are no Yield signs in the area. The council also intends to examine other areas in the estate to see where these road markings and stop signs should be placed.
Independent Councillor Terry O’Flaherty, who made representations on this issue, has welcomed the news.
“Residents have been expressing their concerns regarding the lack of road signage and markings,” she said. “When these markings are in place they should help alleviate the current situation.”
