A SERIES of striking photographic portraits, featuring craftspeople from Kinvara, and its surrounding region, at work, is about to go on exhibition in the south Galway village.
Entitled Faces & Crafts of Kinvara, the exhibition opens on Friday March 2 in The Courthouse. The photographs were taken by the East German born, Kinvara based photographer Markus Voetter. The inspiration for this project was the artist's desire to get to know the people of Kinvara better, and to authentically capture them in unstaged portraits in their everyday work environment.
.
“As a photographer I naturally feel drawn to documenting particularly intriguing facets of life, this has led me to this ongoing photographic project," Markus said. “Also, because they are integral to the ongoing success of our town I feel it is important to record and preserve the work of these artisans."
The exhibition runs until Sunday March 18. Opening times are 12 noon to 6pm.
