Three East Galway organisations will benefit from funding under the Government’s Programme of Grants for Community and Voluntary Organisations.
The groups are Dunmore Community College (€52,779 ), the Children’s Language Development Project, Craughwell (€7,550 ) and Portumna Sign Out Youth Company Ltd, Co Galway VEC (€8,500 ).
Local Fianna Fail Dail Deputy Noel Treacy has welcomed the funding which was sanctioned by his colleague John Curran, Minister of State with responsibility for Community Affairs and the National Drugs Strategy at the Department of Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs. Deputy Treacy said the grants are designed to improve the quality of facilities and services offered by community and voluntary organisations.
“They do this by grant aiding essential works, fitting out and ensuring organisations in the sector have the required skills and knowledge to manage in an increasing complex environment.”
He said the €52,779 for Dunmore Community College will be used to refurbish the premises with ramps, access, and essential upgrades to the roof and to the kitchen area.
“The €7,550 funding for the Children’s Language Development Project, Craughwell, will be used to purchase educational equipment. And the €8,500 allocated to the Portumna Sign Out Youth Company will be used to buy new IT and office equipment.
