Light commercial registration were up by 6.3 per cent (6,728 ) last month compared to January last year (6,329 ), according to official figures released by the Society of the Irish Motor Industry (SIMI ).
Ford remains number one, as does Volkswagen in second place and Renault in third. The top 10 for January is completed (in descending order ) by Toyota, Citroen, Peugeot, Nissan, Mercedes-Benz, Opel, and Mitsubishi.
The Volkswagen Caddy van was Ireland’s top selling light commercial/van model in January. It is followed by the Ford Transit Custom and the Renault Trafic in third place.

Meanwhile Heavy Goods Vehicle registrations are down by -11.84 per cent (402 ) in comparison to January 2017 (456 ).
