Come hear the music of Mozart

Clara Siegle and Musici Ireland to play Music For Galway Emily Anderson Annual Memorial Concert

A BRILLIANT 18-year-old pianist, Clara Siegle, will play Mozart’s sparkling Sonata in D Major, composed in 1777 when the Austrian prodigy was just 21 years old, when she plays the next Music For Galway concert.

Clara, along with Musici Ireland (violinists Ioana Petcu Colan and Jane Hackett, violaists Beth McNinch and David Kenny, and cellist William Butt ) will perform works by Mozart for this year's Music For Galway Emily Anderson Annual Memorial Concert. The concert takes place on Thursday February 15 in the Emily Anderson Concert Hall, Aula Maxima, NUI Galway, at 8pm.

The show marks the Irish debut of German-Irish Clara Siegle, as well as Musici Ireland, who will perform Mozart's String Quintet in C major, K 515 and String Quintet in Gm, K 516. Both were written by Mozart towards the end of his life.

Emily Anderson was born to Emily and Alexander Anderson in 1891. Her father was the president of Queens College Galway (now NUIG ). She became the first professor of German at the university in 1917. In 1920 she began working for the British Foreign Office. What gained her lasting reputation was in translating the full correspondence of both Mozart and Beethoven.
