Under-sixes are in for a treat with new once-off festival from Baboro

A feast of theatre and dance shows from Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Poland, Romania, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, UK and Ireland, made especially for babies and children, will take place in Galway from February 1-4. Wide Eyes, a one-off festival for the under six age group, features 15 new shows from Irish and international artists across 15 countries.

Hosted by Baboró, who run the delightful children’s festival in Galway each October, this is a unique opportunity for parents and young children to share precious time together. Whether your child is six months or six years, it’s never too early for them to experience the arts.

Wide Eyes offers a host of shows to choose from addressing themes of friendship, family, home and belonging, and the courage to be different. You’ll discover what nature can reveal to us and there’s even a dance show for visually impaired audiences, which will explore what dance sounds and feels like.

As part of the Wide Eyes programme, Baboró and Branar Téatar do Pháistí, will present a non-verbal show for children aged 3-6 years called uoo, mee, weee! Directed by Lali Morris and Branar’s Marc Mac Lochlainn, uoo, mee, weee! will mark Baboró’s first ever production for children.

Wide Eyes is funded through the Arts Council’s Making Great Art Work award, Creative Europe, Creative Ireland, Galway2020 and Galway City Council.

Wide Eyes is suitable for babies and children aged 0-6 and is hosted by Baboró International Arts Festival for Children. The full programme can be viewed on www.wideeyesgalway.ie Tickets are available from the Town Hall Theatre on 091 569 777 or online at https://tht.ie
